Hans-Joachim Roedelius - Roedeliusweg download free

‘Roedeliusweg’ is a real oddity from Cluster/Harmonia veteran Hans Joachim Roedelius – despite being more modern than his usually referenced ‘classic’ work, it retains his distinctive sound, and pushes it defiantly through a bleached haze of more contemporary influences. Anemic modern synthesizers replace the usual analogue buzz and hum, but it’s the stark inclusion of dub flavours in many of the tracks that really sets this record apart from others in his catalogue. Razor-sharp FM blips and pads (think Oneohtrix Point Never and you’ll be in the same ballpark) squeal and drone against low-slung basses and echoing drum machine sounds. It’s like Roedelius had spent a few months with his head in the Hardwax shop before embarking on this one, and while it takes a turn for the new age towards the end (doesn’t it always these days?), ‘Roedeliusweg’ is nevertheless an arresting addition to the canon of a crucial artist.
