The latest outstanding musical comedy film extravaganza is "THE GREAT RACE," a hysterical story, set in the early 1900's, of fantastic inventions and incredible adventures. The plot involves a Race between the Great Leslie and his opponent, the evil Fate, in all kinds of unusual contraptions and conveyances.
"PUSH THE BUTTON, MAX," commands Fate, and his assistant, the slithery Maximillian, starts off another of Fate's nefarious devices.
"THE GREAT RACE MARCH" is a patriotic medley to end ALL patriotic medleys, contrived by the great composer, Henry Mancini, to reflect the many imaginary countries through which the race is run.
"THE SWEETHEART TREE," a lilting romantic ballad, represents the love interest between Our Hero and his new found girl.
"THEY'RE OFF" again, starting up with dirigibles and balloons, cars, and boats, slapstick planes, and a great collection of unbelievable watnots.
"PIE-IN-THE-FACE POLKA" puts a cap on the madness as the adversaries bravely battle it out with, you guessed it, the deadliest of all weapons: PIES!
The genius of Mancini in his fabulous talent for creation of music to suit the purpose is reflected more than ever in the terrific score for "THE GREAT RACE." Even apart from the movie, it's a brainstorm and you'll love it!
