  • What "Montreal" really comes down to is Regis early classic - Speak To Me. Killer combination of a throbbing and deep bass line with a high pitched, sinister synth stab. Not really banging, but relentless. It just comes at you with all its fury and stripped down charm. Embrace, love it, dance to it or die! Model Friendship is the second classic here. Somewhat more upbeat, with a straight up four to the floor arrangement and another repetitive synth, not as effective as the one used on the A side. However, it remains a great crowd mover. Pumping, fist in the air bass line, succulent drum kicks inexorably punchin their way through to your head... Ah, techno the way it is meant to be. Linear, raw and damn effective! As for Perspex, I can hardly think of a reason why it is featured on this killer 12". Minimal, with a pretty uninspired sound. Just the same dull clickety pattern on and on for over five minutes. He should have just left this one out and release a killer two tracker. Oh well, don't let it fool you though, tracks A1 and B1 are essential additions to any techno collection!
